About Rizwana Choudhry

 

Hello, I am Rizwana. I am a lawyer practicing exclusively in the area of family law in BC.

​

Family law is not everyone’s cup of tea however I love what I do. I chose to practice family law because I find it personally satisfying and rewarding. Family law matters often come with a unique set of challenges. There is a personal, emotional and financial impact on clients. I help protect my client’s interests, be it the time with their children, their share in family’s financial assets, or their personal safety. I know my clients depend on me and as their legal advisor I take this enormous responsibility very seriously.

 

I previously lived in London, UK where I received my degree in law. I was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in England and Wales after completing the Legal Practice Course i.e. bar exam. I then went on to practice family law in the UK. I remain a member of the Law Society of England and Wales.

 

In 2011, I moved to Canada and went on to re-qualify as a lawyer in Canada and articled at a mid-sized family law firm in New Westminster. Following my call to the British Columbia Bar, I continued at the same firm as an associate for a number of years.

 

I have experience in representing clients in Provincial and Supreme Court of BC in countless complicated chambers applications as well as summary and full trials dealing with family law related issues. I have also represented clients in many mediations and negotiations.

 

As part of my unbundled legal service practice, I provide legal coaching and representation on as needed basis, when unbundled services are appropriate for the matter and individuals involved.

 

I also provide independent legal advice and draft separation, prenuptial and cohabitation agreements for my clients.​

Personal

​

I like to spend my free time with my family. I enjoy working out, you can find me hiking and biking throughout the lower mainland. Cooking, however, is the ultimate decompressing activity for me. I regularly experiment with different cuisines. Recently I have started to dabble in baking thanks to my young daughter and binge watching a few baking shows on Netflix.
